A story which will lives for eternity is none other than the tale of a small boy Mowgli living in the jungle among animals of all kinds. The adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic books, The Jungle Book film draws inspiration from the 1967 Disney’s animated film of the same name.
Disney tapped the right opportunity at the correct time by releasing a new look of their upcoming CGI live action film The Jungle Book during Super Bowl 50’s first half. The trailer begins with taking you into the jungle as the scene surpasses the forests at a frantic pace.
Mowgli, played by Neel Sethi, seems to running for his life probably from the wolf when Bagheera chases him and puts him down. The suspense is unveiled as Mowgli does not run for his life but is simply practicing with the black cat Bagheera, voiced by Ben Kingsley, on how to chase along with the herd and escape.
The negative character is always interesting and conveys a unique aura. Just by the name Shere Khan, the negativity of power arises and this is well portrayed in the character too. Shere Khan voiced by Idris Elba rules over the herd of animals as he notices the odour of human flesh. And the famous words ‘Man is forbidden’ is claimed as the tiger villain has the fear of losing his throne to a human.
Apart from his escape from the villain, Mowgli is seen interacting with the tempting serpent Kaa voiced by Scarlett Johansson and the gigantic King Louie voiced by Christopher Walken. Well to lighten the mood, the cheerful yet sensitive bear Baloo voiced by Bill Murray, becomes a protective part of Mowgli’s life as the ‘Bear can’t bear’ any harm done to the man kid.
The Jungle Book is a story that we all are well versed with since childhood yet the trailer of this film strikes a desire within to know what will happen next. Directed by by Jon Favreau, and written by Justin Marks, this film is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is another Disney feature which seems to be a mix of live action and complete CGI.
‘The Jungle Book has a lot of jungle in it’ as there are extensive backgrounds, waterfall, mountains, river and tree swings that vividly intend to haul the viewers straight into the dense flora and fauna. The backgrounds have live action settings as various jungle portions are shot live. However, the VFX led by MPC, the studio behind The Martian, has created a blend of CGI characters with unique features and natural texture to gel profusely with the live protagonist – the bare kid. In addition, Weta Digital and Digital Domain Studio have added their own master work to enhance the visual effects of the enthralling adventure.
Evoking emotions and displaying expressions of various characters according to their specific nature is another challenge that seems to be well portrayed in this film. So the adventure with the man kid continues as he swings, runs, swims, jumps and fights for his life till the film hits theatres on 15 April, 2016.
