The Benedict Cumberbatch starrer Doctor Strange has lived to the hopes it created with its intriguing trailers. It has collected $325.7 million globally over the weekend till date. The film grossed $85 million in North America and $240.7 million in other territories amounting to a worldwide total of $325.7 million.
The film became the second largest opening in November for Disney. It grabbed $32.6 million on its opening day in North America at 3,882 locations, elevating its estimated opening weekend box office collection to $84 million including Thursday previews.
This visually strange movie has added to Disney’s fortunes in the market this year after the past four films Zootopia, Finding Dory, Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book which made it big at the box office.
Alongside DreamWorks’ animated feature Trolls grossed $46.5 million in North America and $104.8 million in other territories to earn a worldwide total of $151.4 million.
Produced against a budget of $125 million, the film grabbed $12.3 million including Thursday night previews on its first day. It went on to open to $45.6 million, finishing second at the box office behind Doctor Strange.
Both these films released on 4 November, 2016 and received mixed reviews from critics worldwide.
