Since the announcement of Spider Man making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War, the news itself was enough to quip the interest of the comic fanatics and Marvel fans that has lead to a long discussion on which look will the new Spider Man dawn. The first trailer of Civil War showcased the main plot of the movie, without revealing much of the plot and characters. The focus was kept mainly on Captain America, Iron Man and Winter Soldier and showcased few glimpses of other superheroes while ending on a tragic scene where Iron Man is seen being beaten up by Captain America and Winter Soldier simultaneously. With this note, the trailer ended with many unanswered questions leaving behind for the viewers, especially the question ‘Where’s Spider Man’ and ‘Who’s side will he be on ultimately’?
And now, after three months of wait, Marvel has finally released the official Civil War trailer two that does put many unsolved pieces together from the first trailer which had primarily many subtext and hints lying around but it didn’t really establish what sets off an actual war between two groups of Avengers. In the new trailer, we not only got to know the reason behind why Tony (Iron Man) is adamant on bringing the regulations but also why he feels Bucky (Winter Soldier) is still far too dangerous and violent to operate without oversight; something that Steve (Captain America) is ignorant about (for obvious reasons). And we finally caught a good glimpse of Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Ant Man, Hawkeye, Agent 13 along with Falcon and War Machine. That’s not all, the man we were all waiting for – Spider Man, steals the show with not only his new ‘Avatar’ but also his dialogue that he says to all characters in MCU, ‘Hey Everyone’.
By now, everyone knows in and out of the trailer but what sets this Marvel movie apart is the fact that we might get to witness a little darker and grittier tone overall in the film. Iron Man has been that one character who’s known for his witty liners even during serious situations but in the second trailer, he seems saddened, disturbed and serious. Though the railer was filled with action packed performances, it’s also a fact that the entire trailer was cheerless except the entry of Spider Man that made Marvel junkies go bonkers.
Seems like this year we will get to witness few interesting twists in the comic based movie universe wherein on side with Suicide Squad, DC is going on a lighter tone whereas with Civil War, Marvel is looking at a little grittier version of its character. We surely are excited with the new turn in events and will wait to witness what magic the movie spins this year with Civil War releasing on 29 April.
