How adept are you at using your fingers at speed…when it comes to mobile games? How easily can you tap your way to an endless world of birding glory? Delhi based Supersike Games and Taiwanese Indie game developers Keitai Co., Ltd. have come up with an endless arcade runner Barry & Bruce.
Speaking to AnimationXpress.com SuperSike Games co-founder Amit Goyal said, “The whole idea of Barry & Bruce was born when Arjun (co-founder) was messing around with different shapes and took the triangle based visual look. It looks really cool and we wanted to make a game around it. We started working on the prototype for this game around June and one of our interns wanted to mess around in Unity so we said why not. Since we’ve previously worked in CocoStudio-2dx we had a new experience of working on Unity.”
Barry and Bruce is a ‘tap to swap two birds’ game where Barry collects coins and Bruce shoots bullets and destroys bombs. Both the birds are flying parallel and a tap on the screen will change their positions and once you take your finger off they go back to their original position.
On the association with Keitai, Amit said, “People at Keitai have been friends for a while now and every time we’ve been to Casual Connect, they have been there. We showed some work from the prototype to Keitai and they really like it. We had limited resources to continue in Unity so Keitai offered us help and did the coding for the game. This was how Barry & Bruce was born.”
Since SuperSike has been quirky in its titles, be it Yet another bird game or Go Kane, this seems no different. Don’t be fooled by the title as you are welcomed by humorous one-liners on the home screen as these two birds try to amuse you with their wit. Amit explains, ”Arjun and I have been a fan of such quirky titles but there is no rule that you have to do something offbeat but somehow most of ideas we have come up with, have something offbeat about them.”
Music has been a strong point for SuperSike since Arjun has a strong musical background since he was part of the Jalebi Cartel band and Barry & Bruce too is a reflection of his musical journey. Laced with electronic sounds, the game has fast pacey beats as you move forward.
Amit and the team have been working on the updates and the fixes on the game for a while and one should expect something to come up really soon. Since SuperSike and Keitai are Indie studios, there have been no big promotions for the game like the big studios do but they are looking at tie-ups with different platform holders which can take the download numbers to a peak.
“We are still looking at the data and want to fix a few things around the game, so content updates are still being worked upon. We will continue to support the game and add features as we move forward. We also have a couple of things lined up in terms of promotions for the game,” expounds Amit.
Next game up from SuperSike is a cricket game, titled ‘Project OMAR’. Amit says, “Right now it is too early to say anything but we hope to announce for the same in a month or so.”
