Warner Bros. Games has released the first 16 minutes of gameplay for its upcoming game Gotham Knights, with IGN premiering the video of the action RPG. While players will be able to choose from four of Batman’s protégés, including Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, the video focuses on Batgirl.
The video follows the game’s prologue. Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Tim Drake/Robin, and Jason Todd/Red Hood begin the segment by discussing breaking into the Gotham city police department headquarters. The late Bruce Wayne/Batman teases that they’re looking into something that could shake Gotham to its core. Doctor Langstrom/Man-Bat is also mentioned. Batgirl proposes that the team split up. What follows is a video of Gordon in action.
Gotham Knights is an open-world action role-playing game set in Gotham city with an optional multiplayer component. The game takes place after the deaths of Batman and Jim Gordon. The player will face many classic Batman foes throughout the game, including the Court of Owls and Mr Freeze. There have also been teases for Harley Quinn, and the developers have stated that there are several other unannounced characters.
Gotham Knights was originally announced in 2020 at the DC FanDome and was set to be released in 2021. However, the game was postponed. WB Games Montréal and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment thanked fans for their support then, saying that they were giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players.
Gotham Knights, developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, will be available on 25 October for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
