Daedalic Entertainment has revealed the release date for the game Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the game will launch on 1 September 2022 on PC and console, and the Switch version will be released later.
The stealth game starts after Gollum loses a ring to Bilbo Baggins and is looking for it. Early game trailers indicate that Gollum’s alternate persona Smeagol will play a role in the game and he finds a way into Mordor. Some familiar faces from Middle-earth could also appear in the game, Deadalic hints.
Originally the game was set to launch last year, but Daedalic postponed it to this year. Gollum will also be releasing one day before the Amazon Prime show, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Even though the two take place in different times of Middle-earth, it has more Tolkein-inspired properties than what we have seen recently.
Earlier this month, Electronic Arts announced that a new Lord of the Rings game is in the works. It will be a free-to-play mobile game named Heroes of Middle-Earth.
