Keywords Studios, a provider of game art and animation services to the global games industry has announced the launch of its game development service line. Lakshya Digital, a Keywords Studios company, will spearhead and execute the business operations for the new service line in India.
The game development service line will open avenues for the engineering talent in India as they will be focused on providing engineering support to companies across the globe. India is coming up as one of the key development hubs for the game development service line of Keywords.
Prior to this, Keywords Studios has three service lines operational in India – art, localisation and functional QA (FQA). As this initiative gains momentum, the plans are to create Game Dev teams in Bangalore, Gurgaon and Pune. Also, with the increased popularity of gaming in the last five years, this will also create more job opportunities in India along with providing training and upskilling of the existing gaming engineers talent pool.
Commenting on the announcement, Keywords Studios CEO Bertrand Bodson said, “I have been very impressed by the quality of our teams in India and look forward to keep investing in the region to sustain our fast growth across Keywords. What strikes me most is the level of talent, passion, and the sense of entrepreneurship to support our global clients. We also look forward to replicating the successes of our Lakshya inGame programme with the Keywords inGame Academy, and to partner with the Indian government as we think about the power of a million engineers graduating every year. More and more candidates are interested in upskilling to join the buoyant gaming sector and its three billion players globally.”
Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) member and CEO Lakshya Manvendra Shukul said, “We at Lakshya are elated with this announcement. Game Development (Engineering) is one of the most sought after services in the game development pipeline with potential for massive upside for the gaming industry in India. Abundant talent in India will only take it to the next level by helping in delivery of the state-of-the-art video game projects right here in our country.”
