HyperX has announced it is teaming up with Rise Above the Disorder (RAD), a nonprofit covering the cost of mental health care for people around the world. With help from HyperX gaming ambassadors and partners, a PSA video was created to help elevate awareness for mental health care needs and support. HyperX will also host a HXCKED charity streaming event to support RAD, where proceeds donated will help fund mental health care services for those in need.
A mental health PSA was developed as part of HyperX and RAD’s desire to destigmatise the conversation around mental health, encourage people to seek help and help ensure supportive resources are available. Several HyperX ambassadors lent their time to the cause, including content creators like Imane “Pokimane” Anys, professional athletes like Gordon Hayward, Aerial Powers and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and esports stars from Cloud9, XSET and Panda. The PSA encourages individuals to take care of their physical and mental health, while also providing information on resources available through the RAD organization.
“HyperX is honored to be partnering with Rise Above the Disorder on an awareness campaign during Mental Health Awareness Month. This past year has had an immense impact on mental health for many and through our ambassadors’ incredible stories and the essential resources provided by Rise Above the Disorder, we hope to be part of a long-term solution to the problems facing countless members of the HyperX gaming family and community,” said HyperX influencer marketing manager and head of health and wellness Dustin Illingworth.
During the PSA, each of the sports, gaming and influencer professionals shared their personal stories and insight on how they have learned to cope with the stress of being in the public eye.
Over the past year, gaming has had a positive impact on keeping people connected, providing at-home entertainment to families and friends during the pandemic. As part of Mental Health Awareness month, HyperX will host an online charity gaming event called HXCKED, featuring notable ambassadors and influencers including Powers, Cloud9 and Team Liquid members playing Call of Duty: Warzone and other games. The charity stream supports RAD’s activities in driving awareness of helpful mental health resources and letting people know they are not alone. Proceeds from the HXCKED charity stream will go to RAD. The event will be held on Friday, 21May and can be seen on HyperX Twitch Channel.
During the HXCKED livestream, RAD will be offering the purchase of a RAD “ You are not alone” T-Shirt and for every T-Shirt sold during the livestream, RAD will be allocating an hour of therapy to someone in need.
