DOTA 2 is coming to Netflix as an anime titled DOTA: Dragon’s Blood! It is a new adult-oriented animated action series based on Valve’s popular MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game DOTA 2.
After releasing a short teaser last month featuring Davion the Dragon Knight, Netflix has now dropped a full trailer for the show. Check it out below:
Though the series is being marketed as a “Netflix Original Anime Series,” this is not a Japanese production. The series was produced at Netflix Animation in Los Angeles, with Ashley Edward Miller, screenwriter of X-Men: First Class and Thor, serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series is animated in Korea by Studio Mir, the same studio that animated The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Ryu Ki Hyun is the co-executive producer.
As we had heard, the story will follow Dragon Knight Davion who is doing his dragon-hunting job before becoming “embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined.” The tagline is “Do you know whom you serve?” Some twists and back stabbing will be in order at some point.
Book One of Dota: Dragon’s Blood will make its Netflix debut later this month on 25 March.
According to IGN a 15 second teaser also released which unleashes Terrorblade, the Demon trapped in Foulfell, with an ominous voiceover claiming “all you have to do is let me in” before the screen shatters like a mirror and reveals Terrorblade’s official character poster. This brief teaser comes shortly after the official story trailer was released for the first season of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood.
