GodLike Esports has yet again proven its status as one of India’s top esports teams by placing second in the mega series by NODWIN Gaming, BGMI Masters Series 2022. The tournament created a huge splash in India by becoming the first-ever televised esports event, through a broadcast partnership with India’s leading broadcaster, Star Sports. GodLike Esports, represented by Numen Esports and Gaming, reached the grand finale of the tournament but lost by four points to Global Esports to take the runner up title on 17 July 2022.
The BGMI Masters Series 2022 was held from 24 June to 17 July 2022 and featured a massive prize pool of Rs 1.5 crore. The tournament saw participation from 24 leading Indian esports teams compete for the top spot, which featured a prize of Rs 25 lakh and a brand-new Hyundai car worth Rs 13 lakh. GodLike Esports entered the tournaments as favourites for the title, owing to the skill and competency of the team, which included Jonathan, Neyooo, ZGod, Shadow and ClutchGod and was coached by Ghatak. Over the course of the five finale days, GodLike led the leaderboard on two occasions but the nail-biting finale saw Global Esports take the championship title home. As the runner-ups, GodLike Esports won the prize of Rs 12 lakh and Jonathan took the MVP title in the tournament.
Speaking on the tournament, GodLike Esports coach Abhijeet ‘Ghatak’ Andhare said, “Being so close to the ultimate victory and not getting it was definitely disheartening for us, but we’re proud of ourselves for the hard work, determination and teamwork we showcased throughout the tournament. The BGMI Masters Series 2022 is a major milestone in the Indian esports industry and we’re honoured to participate in such tournaments. I would like to thank our management and fans for standing by us through everything.”
