The ONL stream was hosted by Canadian game journalist Geoff Keighley. Gamescom 2024 included major exhibitors like Capcom, EA, Bethesda, Bandai Namco and more. The event also featured live streams from Xbox, IGN and Level Infinite from 21 to 23 August.

On 23 August, the Gamescom Awards were presented in a total of 14 categories at the Gamescom studio. The sustainability award was already presented to Tencent on Tuesday evening during the Gamescom Opening Night Live.

The game that won the most awards at the event was Monster Hunter Wilds. The game was recognised as the Most Epic and Most Entertaining game, Best Trailer as well as the Best Sony PlayStation Game. The game’s action packed trailer and epic boss battles captivated the juries making the game bag the most awards at the event. Buy Monster Hunter Wilds on Playstation 5.

The next game to win the most awards was Little Nightmares 3. The game was recognised for the Best Visuals, Best Audio and the Best Xbox Game. The horror franchise is known for its immersive and creepy atmosphere and top-notch visuals making it a clear choice for the categories.

The Gamescom sustainability award honours an organisation within the global gaming industry for its special commitment to sustainable values such as carbon accounting, emissions reduction, and collaboration with suppliers. This year, the award, presented by the UN’s Playing for the Planet initiative, was given to Tencent Games and was accepted by Tencent Americas president Brent Irvin during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on Tuesday evening.

The Heart of Gaming award is presented annually by the Gamescom awards jury to recognise special highlights of Gamescom. In addition to games, expansions, and technologies, individuals, institutions, companies, concepts, or terms are also considered. This year, the jury is recognising the special role of games in the protection and preservation of our democracy (Games protect democracy). The award acknowledges the trend of civil society actors, memorial sites, and political institutions using computer and video games in various contexts to convey and protect democratic values.
