Esportz has announced a new initiative ‘Esportz Campus Tour’ revolving around college festivals to create opportunities for students who want to put their skills to the test, and offer a place for Generation Z to learn more about gaming.
The event was supported by the leading audio company JBL as the ‘Presenting’ sponsor, computer peripheral brand Rapoo as the ‘Powered by’ sponsor, and computer hardware manufacturer Cooler Master joining as the ‘Gaming Partner’.
The inaugural event of Esportz Campus Tour started with Umang 2022, Asia’s fastest growing college festival of NM College Mumbai, which took place from 15-18 September at JVPD Ground, Mumbai. With state-of-the-art gaming setups powering the location, over 3000 players from +180 colleges across India competed over the course of four days in Call of Duty (for mobile), Valorant (for PC), and FIFA 22 (for console) to win product giveaways and cash prizes. The venue also attracted over 30,000 visitors.
Capital Group VP Ashish Kudalkar said: “Given the zeal with which gamers from over 180 colleges competed in the inaugural event of Esportz Campus Tour, we wanted to provide the best possible gaming experience over LAN for future stars of esports. Collegiate esports has played a significant influence in the overall expansion of esports in recent years and more students participating in esports programmes through Esportz Campus Tour will attest to this growth. The event was such a success that we are already planning a Pan-India Tour.”
With stops at 10+ college festivals in Mumbai, the tour will continue to link young gamers throughout India. This initiative is anticipated to attract more than 35,000 gamers altogether.
