Techies take to Gaming, as fish take to water. The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is organising a massive three day long gaming binge which will be held from 23 to 25 March 2007.
Games on the menu include Counter Strike 1.6 (5*5 format), Unreal Tournament 2004 (individual as well as 4*4 format), Need for Speed Most Wanted, Age of Conquerors(3*3 format), and FIFA 2006. Prior online registration is a must for Team games. Single player events will have on the spot registration also.
Around 1500-2000 gamers are expected to participate in the competition. Till now 45 clans of counter strike have registered including ATE and Rev, the top two teams of India. Prizes worth lakhs both in cash as well as kind will be given to the winners.
Adding to the excitement of the event is the interactive session with Exigent‘ COO Paul Steed.
Chaos 2007 is part of IIT Roorkee‘s festival, Cognizance 2007. It is one of the biggest network gaming events in the country and is one event that stands out right on top of the glittering bouquet of events in Cognizance.
Shared Bineet Bhasin, Co-ordinator, Chaos 2007 with Animation Xpress.com, “There are a lot of things that take to manage a gaming event of such magnitude in India right from sponsorship issues to publicity matters. The experience of organising the event so far has been extremely wonderful for me. Though it was stressful at times but after all it‘s all about gaming and we gamers love it!”
On the list of partners for Chaos 2007 are names such as INTEX, the hardware partner giving 100 TFT machines, NVIDIA providing graphic support, ASUS (gaming league partner), V-STREET(gaming peripheral partner), RZ2 game, Exigent Art Pvt Ltd (Game Development Partner), Gamersindia.com and SKOAR as Media partners.
This is the third year that Chaos is going to be held. Chaos 05 had 60 machines and Chaos 06 had 80 machines respectively and this year they are looking to install many more.
Krishan Nagpal, Convener, Cognizance ‘07 shared on a concluding note, “We are also trying to catch hold of end users, that is, people who are not involved into hardcore gaming by having casual gaming competition for the first time. It will include games like Road Rash, NFS-2 SE and Mortal Kombat 4.”
