Blizzard Entertainment is currently sending emails to users notifying them that Black Ops Cold War will, once again for the series, be exclusive to Battle net.
The news was first announced via Call Of Duty news site Charlie Intel, which received a promotional email from Blizzard leading up to the game’s reveal on 26 August. The news should not come as a surprise to longtime followers of the franchise, as titles in the series, such as Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, are also Battle.net exclusives.
The email also confirmed that the PC version of Black Ops Cold War is being handled by Canadian developer Beenox. The company has previously contributed to a number of Activision games since 2015, including Modern Warfare and the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster.
Black Ops Cold War is mainly developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, and Activision is expected to formally announce the title on 26 August in part through the battle royale game Warzone.
Black Ops Cold War teaser art has also been revealed. The art features a character wearing a Soviet insignia on the left and an American on the right, presumably to show how the two major powers were essentially equaled during the height of the conflict. It’s unclear if these characters are part of the story.
