Sony Pictures has officially added two Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe films to its 2023 domestic release schedule.
Produced by Columbia Pictures, the new Sony/Marvel films set to release in theatres on 23 June and 6 October 2023.
According to reports, the two untitled films will take place in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC) featuring heroes and villains associated with Spider-Man.
After hearing the news, the fans on social media started predicting that one of these untitled films will be sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage as one of the films is scheduled for October release. Earlier both Venom movies thus far have had October release dates. However there is no confirmation yet on this.
SPUMC is set to expand the universe in the upcoming years, there are number of films slated for release. Morbius movie starring Jared Leto slated for 28 January 2022. Morbius is not the only Spider-Man villain featured in the movie, as Michael Keaton is teased to return as The Vulture, a part he played in the MCU’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Sony is much interested and investing huge amounts into the idea of a shared universe. Kraven the Hunter movie is in development and set to be released on 13 January 2023.
Sony is also said to be developing a number of other Spider-Man spinoff movies, including The Sinister Six, Madame Web and an untitled Olivia Wilde-directed movie believed to feature the character of Spider-Woman.
Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home, a co-production between Sony and Marvel Studios, which is scheduled to hit theatres later this year on 17 December 2021.
