Anthony Mackie has officially signed on to star in the Marvel’s untitled fourth Captain America film, according to Deadline.
It will be Mackie’s seventh superhero picture in the MCU, however Marvel Studios has not disclosed much information regarding the upcoming film and has not mentioned whether it will involve Sebastian Stan, who starred with Mackie in Marvel Studios Disney+ limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier are the clashing duos who team up for the global adventure and to test their survival skills. In the first five episodes, Mackie played Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and finally in the finale, we see him donning a new fancy costume and wielding Steve Rogers’ ‘shield’, and flying into the scene as the new Captain America.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer and creator Malcolm Spellman and series staff writer Dalan Musson will be penning the script of the untitled film.
No director is set on the fourth Captain America movie, though previously Anthony and Joe Russo directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and Captain America: Civil War (2016) and then the duo came together to direct mega hits Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), the biggest and highest-grossing movies of all time.
No official release date has been announced yet for the upcoming fourth Captain America film but it will be interesting to watch how will Mackie take forward the mantle of Captain America.
