Mumbai based Graphiti Multimedia’s animated feature film Krish, Trish and Baltiboy 2 (KTB2) is nominated at 21st Cairo International Film Festival for Children to be held from 23rd March to 30th March, 2012. The movie is nominated in children’sanimation film category.
Under the slogan ‘The Children’s World is Changing’ , the aim of 21st Cairo International Film Festival for Children is to sustain the artistic relations, exchange creative experiences and encourage artistically appreciated films which depicts the world problems of children aging from 6 to 18. It will contribute in their up bringing of education, intellectual, behaviour and entertainment.
Speaking withAnimationXpress.com Munjal Shroff, Director of Graphiti says, “We are very excited to get nominated in film festival which will be held in Cairo. KTB2 is based on Indian folk stories, folk art and folk music and it wil be screened to the Kids audience in Egypt and I am sure it will be a great experience for them. KTB is an attempt to resurrect and nurture the dying folk art forms. Kids today are completely alienated from our vibrant visual culture. KTB is a unique experiment in the times of Walmartisation of Kids Content and given its success on Cartoon Network I can confidently say that the experiment had been hugely successful”.
Talking about the expectations of being nominated in the festival Tilak Shetty Director of Graphiti expresses, “We expect that we should win, obviously. But, more than that I am excited to watch these films with kids who are from different part of the world. It will be interesting to see how children’s respond to the Indian stories, art and culture. I think kids from the Middle East will enjoy the movie”.
About the current projects, Graphiti Multimedia is working on an animated music video which will go on air this month. And they are doing the pre-production on 3 more feature films on Krish Trish Baltiboy which will portray folk arts like Chitrakathi from Maharashtra, Gond paintings from Madhya Pradesh and Phad paintings from Rajasthan and Kalighta paintings. All these folk art forms have never been adapted to animation. The movies are in various stages of pre-production and are slated to release next year. Stay tuned for more on this soon.
Apart from these, Graphiti continues to produce TV Commercials and is also developing fresh IPs. Given the amount of production that is underway at Graphiti, it is actively seeking fresh talent and experienced pre-production artists including Storyboard artist and character designers.
