Next three years are expected to create eight million jobs: experts predict at Sambhavna 2022; an online event on careers in the creative industry

Safalta, an edtech app bridging the gap in accessibility of education in association with AnimationXpress conducted ‘Sambhavna- 2022’, a webinar bringing to fore career aspects in the creative industry. This much-awaited industry event was held on 26 March and brought together stalwarts from the education and creative industry for a discussion on the career avenues, the future of the creative and edtech industry in India and horizons that expand for an individual trained in the requisite skill set.

Safalta CEO and co-founder Himanshu Gautam spoke on the benefits of a digital economy and how it has opened new career avenues. Speaking at the event, he said, “With the media and entertainment sector’s market moving towards rupees two lakh crores, from its current potential of rupees one lakh 75 thousand crores as per an ENY report, one can be assured of the future of this industry. With design and creativity being a ubiquitous part of our daily lives and the rapid growth of the media and entertainment industry, the next three years are expected to create around eight million job openings.”

With the launch of its graphic designing course, Safalta aims to harness the existing talent and bridge the employability gap through affordable and accessible education. A start-up with a soul, Safalta aims to provide education and skill to the semi-urban and urban population of India.

Abhishek Kini studios founder Abhishek Kini spoke on the increase in jobs in gaming sector due to easy availability of mobile and tab leading to increase in demand of games, due to constant usage and increase in users. He also apprised the audience on the equal need to focus on story and concepts, along with backend (coding). Kini, being a leading illustrator animator with a prominent presence in the Indian comics scene is known for his quirky style and original works like Angry Maushi Trilogy, Milk and quickies and Rhyme Fighters. 

With creativity knowing no bounds and no need for formal education in this discipline, young entrepreneurs make sure the mantra of ‘skill speaking louder than academics and marksheets’ is being followed. An award-winning illustrator, graphic designer, director and animator, Aashish Mall, who was also a speaker at the event, said that “Upcoming changes in technology beyond android and iOS will lead to more job creation and requirement of such skills. Also, metaverse will open more opportunities and hence we will have the need for designers and developers in near future.”

The panellists and audience agreed on the need to promote these skills along with holistic education that ultimately serves the purpose of job-creation.
