In order to meet the growing demands for quality animators and design experts, Zee Institute of Creative Art (ZICA) launched its state-of-the- art center in Mumbai, on 6th July 2012 at Fun Republic, Andheri West. The center was launched by award winning filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. ZICA is India’s first full-fledged Classical and Digital Animation Training Academy that trains youth in various creative art courses including classical 2D and modern 3D animation, Visual Effects and Visual Communication.
Located in the suburban part of the Mumbai city, the newly launched center is well equipped with student labs and latest technology ZICA provides practical training in 2D and 3D Animation, Visual Effects, Visual Communication & Gaming, covering the stages of visualization, Pre-production, production and post-production.
Elaborating on the salient features of ZICA, Mr Sumeet Mehta, and CEO of Zee Learn said, “ZICA proves to be a one stop solution to the requirements of the industry by providing industry relevant courses and guidance.”
Mr Mehta added, “India is the most favored destination for entertainment industry to outsource the animation work, but with the explosion of media within the country the need for highly trained creative artistes to provide animated contents and visual effects, has the potential to grow. What also works in favor of the growth of the animation industry is the anticipated phenomenal growth of an allied industry—the gaming industry—that is expected to grow by about 36 per cent in the next four years. All in all the growth means that the time is perhaps the ripest it has been in the recent years for students interested in dabbling with the virtual world.”
The launch witnessed the presence of renowned film director and screen writer, Mr Anurag Kashyap, Mr Uday Shankar Pani, a veteran Indian film director, Mr. Nittin Keni – Head of Zee’s production house and Mr Shubhdarshi Tripathy—Head Content of Zee Learn.
Mr. Prabhanjan Chapar, Business Head – ZICA added, “It has been estimated that the value of the creative design and animation industry that was estimated at 18.5 billion in 2009 will be a whopping 54 billion by 2014. This growth is majorly the result of the growing reputation of India as a quality place to outsource animation work. Production work for films including the Lord of the Rings, the Harry Potter series, the Chronicles of Narnia and Spiderman 3 have taken place in India during the last few years.”
