Toonz animation recently conducted a three day program ‘Animation Safari’ from 2nd – 4th April 2012 (9am – 5pm) which was held at the Toonz Animation studio India Pvt. Ltd., Technopark, Trivandrum.
The session titled, “The Journey of a Story through Animation Production” targeted both at the general public and the aspiring students, was intended to create awareness about the various stages and techniques of animation production. Children and their family love to see the Animated Cartoons through TV but they are always curious how these are made. For some it is a simple computer based process where computer takes care of everything and for some it is a mysterious area. With this program they intended to remove these to some extent.
PK Vijayakumar, CEO, Toonz Animation coordinated the entire event and the Sr. Faculty Head Vinod AS and other Production Experts from the Studio interacted with the public and the students. The participants were given an opportunity to have an interactive case study of Toonz’ own animation production – ‘Jil Jil Genie’. This production has been already aired 3-4 months back on Cartoon Network and Pogo. It was an educative experience for the participants to get to know how an animation film is made.
The session portrayed how the show was made right from the Ideation to Development to Storyline to Pre-production to Production to Post-production and then to the Channels. The session also included the various production phases of the James Cameron’s international milestone Animation/VFX movie ‘Avatar’.
Talking to AnimationXpress.com Hari Varma, Chief Creative Officer, Toonz Animation says, “As the program was conducted as part of our social responsibility and targeted for General enthusiastic public and students of 15 years or 10th standard and above, it was free of cost. This was a golden opportunity for the public especially for the potential students who seriously want to take up Animation as their career”.
The studio tour that followed the session provided ample insight with first-hand experience on how an animation show is created on the studio floor. The one hour session with the Studio Experts who represents today’s animation industry turned out to be an enriching experience for the visitors.
“This is just a small social pay-back to the public by us, Toonz Animation India, against the successes, acceptance, awards and accolades we have won over the last 13 years of our existence from all over the world. Our objective of creating some waves about animation was achieved”, Hari Varma concluded.
