Netflix taps Alice Waddington to direct the upcoming live action Netflix adaptation of hugely popular comic book series Dept.H.
According to Deadline, Paradise Hills director Alice Waddington has signed on to direct the live action adaption of Dept.H for Netflix.
Dept. H is originally a comic book series that began in 2016 written by and illustrated by Matt Kindt and colored by Sharlene Kind. The adaptation comes as part of a first-look deal between Dark Horse Entertainment and Netflix, which was first announced in 2019.
T.S.Nowlin will be writing the script along with Mike Richardson , Keith Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Dark Horse Entertainment is the producer.
Dept.H is most anticipated feature of Netflix, the streamer said they have been on the search for the director for month before finalizing Waddington as showrunner.
Dept. H features the story of a renowned scientist who is mysteriously murdered while in a deep-sea research station. Following his murder, his estranged daughter is sent six miles below the surface to investigate who is responsible for her father’s death.
Dept. H is the fifth Dark Horse title to be adapted for Netflix. Upcoming projects of Netflix and Dark Horse are Mystery Girl, directed by McG and starring Tiffany Haddish, and Lady Killer, led by Blake Lively.
No release date is set for Dept. H.
