DC announces plan for 2024 San Diego Comic Con

Batman: Caped Crusader

DC will be present at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) with a dedicated booth on the convention show floor from Wednesday, 24 July, through Sunday, 28 July.

DC will be presenting exclusive panels and sessions at the Comic Con, and is collaborating with McFarlane Toys, Meta, and Candy to offer limited edition SDCC convention exclusives at its booth.

Join some of DC’s story tellers in a panel that dives deeper into DC Comics’ 2024 blockbuster Summer event, and beyond.

Jim Lee (DC president, publisher, and chief creative officer) and a few of his friends will be available for discussions and reveals.

Hear directly from some of the writers and artists that are creating new storylines that push DC’s superheroes and supervillains beyond their limits in new adventures.

Walk the dark and gritty streets of the DC Universe with the company’s top talent for news and surprises involving Batman and the other protectors of Gotham City.

Featuring sneak peeks at unreleased Kite Man: Hell Yeah! scenes and a look at what’s in store for Harley Quinn’s upcoming fifth season, join the cast and creators for a special discussion spanning both Max Original adult animated series from DC and Warner Bros. Animation. Panellists include Lake Bell (Poison Ivy), Matt Oberg (Kite Man), James Adomian (Bane), Dean Lorey (EP) virtual, Justin Halpern (EP), Patrick Schumacker (EP). Moderated by Damian Holbrook, TV Guide.

Executive producers Jake Wyatt, Josie Campbell, Brendan Clogher, and voice cast members Jack Quaid, Alice Lee, Ishmel Sahid, and Kiana Madeira will answer fan’s questions from season two. Fans will also get to know more details for the show’s third upcoming season. Airing on Adult Swim, the show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation. 

Join executive producers Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher with series stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as they make their Comic-Con debut in Hall H. After the third season ended on a major cliffhanger, fans will get to view an exclusive trailer for the final season and learn what’s in store as Clark and Lois continue to navigate the challenges of parenthood while saving the world. Season 4 of the show returns with a special two-hour premiere event on Thursday, 17 October on The CW. Based on the characters from the comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the show is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl), Todd Helbing (The Flash, Black Sails), Brent Fletcher (Lost, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Sarah Schechter (All American, Riverdale), and Geoff Johns (Titans, DC’s Stargirl). 

Join executive producer Matt Reeves and cast members Hamish Linklater, Jamie Chung and Minnie Driver for the premiere screening of the upcoming series followed by a moderated Q&A where they will discuss their characters and tease key storylines in the upcoming season. From Warner Bros. Animation, Bad Robot Productions, 6th & Idaho, and based on DC characters, the series is a reimagining of the Batman mythology through the visionary lens of executive producers J.J. Abrams, Reeves, and Bruce Timm. Batman: Caped Crusader executive producers also include Ed Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register. 

The limited series, from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, continues Reeves’ The Batman crime saga and centres on the character played by Colin Farrell in the film. The series debuts on HBO in September. Panellists include Farrell—virtually (Oz Cobb aka The Penguin / EP), Cristin Milioti (Sofia Falcone), Rhenzy Feliz (Victor Aguilar), Reeves (EP), Lauren LeFranc (Showrunner / EP), and Dylan Clark (EP). Beginning Thursday, 25 July, fans can visit the the company’s booth (#4545) on the convention centre floor at SDCC to see one of Oz Cobb’s iconic suits from The Penguin.

Meta exclusives

Meta will feature Batman: Arkham Shadow, a Meta Quest 3 exclusive developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios, in one corner of the company’s booth and their game trailer will be shown on the TV screens as part of the looping video reel.

The official synopsis for the game is: Experience Gotham City like never before! Take down its most notorious criminals using a built-for-VR evolution of Arkham’s iconic freeform combat. Camouflaj has faithfully reimagined the entire experience for VR—from bone-crunching combat to stealth to predator encounters to Detective Vision. Set between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum, players will experience the origins of characters such as The Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, and more. Batman: Arkham Shadow releases fall 2024.

Candy Digital exclusives

Candy Digital is launching the next chapter in Batman: The Legacy Cowl, an original DC comic on the blockchain that was contributed through fan voting. The comic will be released exclusively on the Candy Digital platform on 25 July 2024 along with the next instalment, Catwoman: The Legacy Cowl. The comic series is written by Cavan Scott with cover art by Jonboy Meyers and art by Fico Ossio, fans can collect the physical-digital comic for free at the company’s booth at SDCC. The digital comic sale, with exclusive variant covers, will start on Thursday, 25 July at 12 pm ET exclusively on the Candy Digital platform. 

My Adventures with Superman

Fans can also get to know more details for the upcoming storylines of popular DC characters during panels featuring Mark Waid (Absolute Power) Jeph Loeb (The Last Halloween), Joshua Williamson (Superman), Josie Campbell (My Adventures with Superman), Rafael Grampá (Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham), Tom King (Wonder Woman), Tom Taylor (Nightwing) Jeremy Adams (Green Lantern), Ram V (Detective Comics), Nicole Maines (Absolute Power: Super Son), and more.

Every night from 6 pm on Thursday to Saturday, fans can play The Joker is Wild, a game show hosted by Tim Sheridan. Fans will get a chance to play a different spin on the classic slot-machine trivia game while at SDCC. Players will need to conjure up three jokers and answer the questions correctly. Attendees can visit the comic publisher’s booth on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 6 pm.
