BOOM! Studio hints at potential comeback of evil deeds in ‘Irredeemable’ teaser

BOOM! Studios has teased a possible comeback of Irredeemable by Mark Waid and Peter Krause. The studio tweeted an image that reads, “Mark Waid is still evil.” The artwork hints at the return of Waid and Krause’s 2009 evil Superman series Irredeemable, which used the tagline, “Mark Waid is Evil! Mark Waid is Irredeemable!”

The 37-issue run of Irredeemable came to an end in 2012. For 24 issues, Krause served as the artist; Diego and Eduardo Barreto then took over for the second half of the run. Plutonian, the world’s greatest superhero, is followed throughout the series as he goes evil and begins inflicting harm, destruction and mayhem all across the globe. The Plutonian can only be eliminated by a group of his former superpowered allies called the Paradigm.

Around the same time as Irredeemable, the spinoff Incorruptible was released. Incorruptible, which lasted for 30 issues from 2009 to 2012, follows one of the Plutonian supervillains, Max Damage, as he embarks on a completely opposite path and tries to become a hero. Incorruptible, written by Waid, featured illustrations by Marcio Takara, Jean Diaz, Damian Couceiro, and others.

A single film adaptation of Irredeemable and Incorruptible was announced by Netflix in March. Jeymes Samuel, known for the movie The Harder They Fall of 2021, will direct it. Samuel will also be producing the film along with Jay-Z, James Lassiter, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie. Script for the same is written by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse co-director Kemp Powers.
