It is the 92nd birth anniversary of the father of Indian Comics, Anant Pai, fondly known as Uncle Pai, on 17 September. The doyen of story-telling was the founder of Amar Chitra Katha (ACK), the most influential comic book publication since 1967.
On the special ocassion, there will be a live online event on YouTube at 5 pm. Special offers have been announced on ACK and Tinkle Applications. They are carrying on Uncle Pai’s legacy of encouraging the habit of reading.
ACK family is bracing up for the celebrations with an array of events that would include fun-filled sessions of storytelling, games, and conversations with some of your favourite Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle characters. They have been promoting the event on their social media handles as ‘Uncle Pai Day’.
Generations have grown up hearing and telling Indian history, cultural stories, folk tales and many other legends highlighted in these works by ACK. Children’s monthly magazine Tinkle is also his brain-child.
Led by Pai, ACK solely took the responsibility of preserving India’s history and keeping it alive in an interesting manner.
Recently, media professional Rajessh Iyer had also penned Pai’s biography titled Uncle Pai – A Biography published by FINGERPRINT.
