The filming of the movie Thor: Love and Thunder began last week, under the direction of Taika Waititi. First images from the Sydney (Australia) sets of Thor: Love and Thunder have arrived online and are now revealing a little more about the movie. The photos show Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, and Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, in striking getups.
As the title suggests, the film appears to be leaning into the quirky, cosmic, space opera vibe. The photos from the set pointed to a rock ‘n’ roll inspired adventure.
The recent set of pictures also seem to reveal that Thor has lost his beer belly and is back in shape, after putting on weight at the start of Avengers: Endgame.
Having the Stormbreaker back in hand, Thor has a stunning new look, rocking a vest and a new hairstyle, pointing to a major evolution for the God of Thunder in the coming movie. While Star-Lord is looking a tad bit more badass, and the look clones the look in the comics to a greater extent, than we’ve seen him in past appearances; it is the God of Thunder himself who has gauged our eyeballs. He has clearly gotten over his depression.
Thor seems to have adapted and embraced a new style as we move into the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film has also brought back Natalie Portman from the first two Thor movies, not just as Jane Foster but also as the female Thor, the one who will wield Mjolnir. Portman has confirmed that the film will take inspiration from the Mighty Thor storyline.
“I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is,” Portman said in a podcast appearance, revealing that we’ll be seeing her character, Jane Foster, battling cancer in the film.
While it is still uncertain what this means for the film’s plot, the excitement to discover if this is Thor’s casual wear then what would be his superhero costume has kept us all eagerly waiting for more Easter eggs.
Thor: Love and Thunder has been slated for 11 February 2022 release. With the recent premiere of Disney+ series’ WandaVision, the era of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has finally begun with a bang!
