Young Stars Shining Bright: Bharat Pillai creates video Give Love Another Chance

The number of short films and music videos created by GenX of Indian Animation is increasing and that is good news! Bharat Pillai, a student from MAAC-Thane has recently completed a semi realistic animated music video called “Give Love another chance”, a 5 minuter video with a combination of real life characters and animated characters.

The music video revolves around the life of a girl who is the protagonist, depressed with her life due to her past experiences in a relationship. A guy proposes her and she is not willing to fall in love anymore. The core sense of the video starts when the guy starts explaining to her how things are not always the same, and assures the girl that he will love her always and stand by her no matter what happens. As Bharat didn’t want to have a typical end to things, he preferred to finish the video where the girl just smiles and hints to the audience that she might just think to fall in love again. He wanted to enlighten the viewers with a positive hope and create a pinch of thought created through her smile.

Speaking to Animationxpress.com about the animation side of the video Bharat Pillai, creator and editor said that, “The animation used in this video is semi realistic. I wanted to portray the character proposing the girl in two ways, one in real life and the other through an animated character so that people could understand the story precisely. There were five shots of animation,
• The character proposing the girl.
• The other two were like gifting her something
• and the last was eye winking.
The entire experience working on the animation and creating it was quite a joyful ride. On the way of development I learnt a lot of new things and realized what it takes to be perfect. The first two animation shots were a bit difficult as it was little lengthy but it was done through hard work and paid it off. The other shots were simple. So it did not take much time.”

“Basically, the whole video is edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, Images used for motion graphics are created in Photoshop, motion graphics and Typography is done in After Effects and Animation is done in Maya. Apart from working hours together on software, it is more essential to develop aesthetic sense and enthusiasm towards your work. It was like a dream project for me hence i did it through my sheer dedication and love for animation.” he added.

Elaborating more on the look and the feel of the video Bharat added, “In this video, the song is neither too sad nor too happy. So I didn’t want to make it look very colorful or keep it pale. Hence, I thought of giving a look which is very mild and soothing which can go with the feel of the song. I wanted to show the girl character depressed and  pretty as well because of which we made her try various outfits to suit her role and I guess she pulled it off amazingly well and I almost achieved the way I wanted the girl to be. The guy in this video is sincere in what he is saying through the song. He is very clear about it and somewhere he knows that he can get her back. So the guy is not shown too sad nor too happy. His personality is shown decent and matured to match the role. He is smiling so that the video can touch audience’s heart in a positive way.”

“Being a student, there are certain limitations to create such a music video. However, it’s always overwhelming when the final output is just like the way you thought. There are obviously few difficulties which come across, for eg. You need a high res. camera, locations, actors, costumes etc. I was always made it a point to clear stuff what I want in the video and achieve it accordingly. It wanted to play a lot with backgrounds hence, for that; locations are the most important aspect. It took a lot of time to hunt for the locations, but with a help of few friends I decided to the best of locations shortlisted by us. Shooting for this music video was challenging since we are not professional actors, we had a lot of retakes but in the end we made it. The journey through this video was as a rose, to reach the red bud rose we went through a lot of thrones, but as it is said to receive a rose is always a pleasure, the video was a pleasure.” he concluded.

Mentioning the credit list for the video Bharat shared, “My sources of inspiration include my family, my dearest people in life Karu, Shivani Ma’am and Ajay who have always stood by me from the beginning of my career in animation. I would sincerely like to thank my co-actor Jaspreet Saini for her supportive performance and then Gauri for giving me this beautiful song by JLS and encouraging me. Though the run of direction, editing, effects of the video is done by me, it wouldn’t have been possible without my Friends,  Ajay Patel, Nitin Gite, Nachiket Kambli, Archana Rajagopal, Gauri Thakur, Deepika Kotecha, Sujit Shelke, Vishal Poojary, Hoshedar Vesuna, Nikita Desle and last not the least my entire faculties of MAAC Thane.”

Bharat is truly an ambitious boy and wants to work on three new scripts written by him, a music video and two short films. One of the short film is called “There’s a situation” which includes Bharat himself and a  little girl, Anushka which is a comedy movie sprinkled with emotions and the other short film named ‘Ishva’ which is an emotional story of a girl .The music video is untitled yet since it at the initial stage.
