WWE and Crunchyroll announced a partnership to create a new anime series. The anime series will be hosted exclusively on Crunchyroll’s streaming platform.
The Japanese animated works, also called Anime have gained popularity and recognition around the globe over the years. It has a wider range of audiences with a global reach. Crunchyroll was recently purchased by Sony entertainment.
During WWE company’s earnings call, WWE president and chief revenue officer Nick Khan said, “As we continued to expand WWE’s brand beyond the ring, we remained focused on developing the slate of original programming from WWE studios. We sold a multi-episode anime series to Crunchyroll which is now owned by Sony.”
World Wrestling Entertainment and Crunchyroll partnership will give Wrestlers a chance to come up with their anime. In fact, in the past, many wrestlers showed their love for anime. Sacha Banks, Keith Lee, the New Day, Rhea Ripley, Ronda Rousey are some of the wrestlers who adorn themselves with anime-inspired outfits and also integrated some of the themes in their wrestling styles.
This partnership will be exciting for WWE fans who will be enjoying and experiencing their favourite superstar fighting in an animation series. However, it also gives WWE a chance to create a fan base among the new audience who were never exposed to WWE before.
