Promoted by malyalee super star Mohanlal, the Trivandrum based Vismayas Max Animation Academy has announced its plans to create Dasan & Vijayan,a 2D animation TV series.
The 2D series is based on characters from the super hit Nadodikattu which starred Mohanlal and Sreenivasan as Dasan & Vijayan. The story and screenplay for the animated series however have been freshly created.
Speaking to Animation ‘xpress Vismayas Max Animation Academy Executive Director N M K Menon said that,”This is probably for the first time that an animated series is being created out of popular film characters in India. We anticipate a great response. The pre production has already been completed and we are about to commence production shortly.”
Close to 100 animators are working on the project and Vismayas plans to create 25 episodes of 25 minutes each within 11 months time. The majority of artists are from the first batch of students that graduated out of Vismaya last year, the studio additionally plans to hire the best of talent from its second batch of graduates too.
Menon commented on this saying,”We are creating our content and at the same time providing employment for the students that pass out from our academy”
In the original Malayalam film released a few years ago(with two sequels subsequently) Mohanlal and Sreenivasan enact the roles of two educated unemployed youths whole job-hunting escapades land them into solving crimes that even the state police could not solve. A thankful police department happily accommodates them as detective inspector and detective constable respectively.
“The script and the story board depicts their natural penchant for solving crimes by serendipity rather than by investigative acumen. This gives rise to many hilarious situations just like in the original films. Our attempt shall be to continuously retain the thread of comedy over every episode to make it enjoyable to viewers of every age group” said Menon.
“While the production including Layout, Animation, Background, Inbetweening , Clean up and Digital work would be carried out at the Academy’s studio, the post production works like music, dubbing and editing will be completed at Mohanlal’s own Video and Film Complex Studio at Trivandrum, which would soon have facilities for Dolby/DTS, making it the first of its kind in Kerala” he added.
“We haven’t spoken to any TV channel yet. Initially we plan to create the series in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages and if the response is good we will dub the series in Hindi and other Indian langauges” concluded Menon.
