24FPS, one of the leading team based animation Awards and tournaments in the country is just a few days away. The organisers, Maya academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) recently held a press conference where the grand jury for 24FPS was introduced.
In its update on 24FPS last week, Animation ‘xpress did publish details about the jurywhich comprises of AniRights Infomedia CEO Ashish Kulkarni, MEL Production consultant Jai Natarajan, Anibrain CEO Jesh Krishna Murthy, 2NZ Animation CEO Kireet Khurana, Zoo Films Creative Director Nicholas Camecho, NID Activity Chairperson (Education) Nina Sabnani, UTV Toons’ Creative Head Sanjiv Waeerkar, Rhythm & Hues Digital production head Sesha Prasad and DreamWorks Animation European Representative Shelley Page.
Additionally the jury (as per what was shared by MAAC at the press conference) also includes Toon Boom CEO Joan Vogelesang, Crest Animation Studios’ Creative Director Virendra Chauhan, Prana Studios’ Nilesh Sardesai & Shana Koenig.
Speaking at the conference MEL & MAAC CEO Rajesh Turakhia stated,” 24FPS started to encourage animation in India. The idea was to bridge the gap between the need and availability of human talent in animation. In its third year the 24FPS Awards have expanded into many categories and have received an overwhelming response. I thank the esteemed jury for being part of the Awards and adding to their credibility and authenticity”
“At this year’s Awards ceremony, we will be announcing an independent governing body for 24FPS which shall take the Awards to the next level and add even more credibility and authenticity to the entire thing, making it something that all studios, institutes and individuals will aspire to participate in” he added.
Ranging from extremely stylish to straight and hard hitting, the short films screened at the 24FPS press meet were outstanding in terms of concepts, treatment and quality of animation production and had most of the jury members raving about them as well as appreciating the MAAC initiative on organising the Awards.
2nZ CEO Kireet Khurana stated” I would like to especially laud the efforts of Rajesh ( Turakhia)to get professionals from competing studios to get together for 24FPS. I see at least a 20% improvement in quality of the films since last year”
Continuing on a similar note, UTV Toons’ Sanjeev Waeerkar added,” Some of the entries that we have seen are simply amazing. The Awards are just in their third year and what I see is a very impressive crop of talent that we could nurture and take things forward. The fact that the students have created their own content is fabulous”

Juhi remarked “Our film is based on a true story of aYoung bonded laborer IQBAL who rallied and set over 3,000 children free & awarded by “Reebok Human Rights Award”. At the age of 12, he was murdered on
April16′ 1995″
The Challenging part is to introduce the feelings of sympathy towards a child. We have done a lot of research to capture the emotions through cinematography & film language”
Chandrakant added”We like to have a character with innocent looks and poor getup. The experience is great & everyone is very supportive”
Ajay shared “The difficult part is to show the animation in an emotion based
film, so we had even worked even on each & every minute detail”
Team: Psychix
Members: Shashikant, Ravi, Sagar, Sumit, Swapnil
Project Theme: Stop Child Labour
Film Title: Incomplete Dreams
“We made our project by using 3Ds Max” said Swapnil.
“It was a great experience. The only problem we faced was Rigging the character, which was very complex” he added.
“The reason we choose this theme was to create awareness about the problem of CHILD LABOUR. We took this Competition as an opportunity to do something that can really help POOR CHILD LABOURERS” said Ravi.

Film Title: SAVE TIGERS
“Its always a pleasure working as a team. Killing attitude, creativity & management really defines the project quality. Also, supports from HO gave us the platform for a purely professional approach with great learning experience. Proper management of workloads & no deadline problems” ,said Pranav Panchal.
Bansari said “Paper work is the most important thing in the whole project. More the paper works, better the result. Sketching is very essential
We will keep ourselves updated. Grab the chances & always follow one universal principle “SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. Its just a matter of proving ourselves capable to do anything” ,added Krishna Puranik

Film Title: Bhanvar
“The story is about a man who is illeterate and always gets into problems due to lack of education. We have tried to show how he realises the value of education in life.
We started as a group of five students with different specialisation fields. Our motive to particiapte at 24FPS was to be able to work as team and participate in a 3D environment. And we have learnt a lot from it
New plugins like V Ray were used for rendering. Due to working as ateam and with proper communication and co ordiantion we came wup with a lot of alternative appraoches to each process and finally chose what suited our needs best
