After captivating young Indian audiences with his bravery and intelligence in his animated avatar, Chhota Bheem is set to charm both kids and their families in the upcoming live-action film Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan, releasing on 31 May. Ahead of its release, the Green Gold team launched the trailer today at Cinepolis Andheri. The event featured the movie’s brand ambassador, the renowned Indian film director and choreographer Farah Khan.
During the launch, Farah Khan shared how her kids have grown up watching Chhota Bheem and have been obsessed with the show, even teaching her about the characters. She emphasised the importance of having such homegrown content that connects children with Indian culture, food, and places.
In the film, we will get to see Chhota Bheem and his friends battle the ancient evil, Damyaan, to protect their village, Dholakpur.
The launch event was graced by the film’s cast and the creative team behind its production, including director and producer Rajiv Chilaka, writer Niraj Vikram, producer Megha Chilaka, co-producer Bharath Laxmipati, music director Raghav Sachar, and casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
Rajiv Chilaka, reflecting on the journey of bringing Chhota Bheem to live-action, said, “I started in 2003 trying to get Chhota Bheem on screen but faced several rejections until the show aired on Pogo in 2008. As the IP completes 16 years, I wanted to create something more for its loyal audience with this live-action film. The idea is for not just kids, but the entire family to enjoy it. It was a huge learning curve transitioning from animation to live-action. We also realised the need to scale up the budget to do justice to the project.”
Bharath Laxmipati added, “Chhota Bheem embodies the spirit of India and its youth. This film is an invitation to everyone who has enjoyed Chhota Bheem over the past 16 years. It’s made for the fans, for kids, and for families to enjoy together in theaters. We aim to create a magical experience.”
Music director Raghav Sachar shared his excitement, “It’s a pleasure to be part of a kids’ film. Now that I have kids of my own, it holds a different meaning. My son Kiaan has even sung in the film with me. I’m thrilled to contribute to such a beloved franchise and hope to continue making more films and sequels with the audience’s love and support.”
Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan is all set to hit Indian theatres on 31 May and promises to be an exciting adventure, bringing a cherished animated hero to life in a way that the entire family can enjoy.
