The Animation Block Party has announced the programme for its 17th Annual Festival, to be held from 21 to 23 August.
This year, like most other events, the festival will stream animated shorts and host virtual parties. The programmes will be available for free to all viewers with a suggested donation to either Black Lives Matter of Greater NY or City Harvest for COVID-19 support.
On 21 August, the event will take off with an ‘Opening Night Party’ featuring Picture This at the Littlefield NYC Virtual Stage at 9 p.m. EST. The programme will showcase award-winning animators paired with top comedic talent, telling jokes as they are animated live on Zoom.
On 22 August (Saturday), Animation Block Party 2020 streaming programmes will be available from 9 am EST and remain online until midnight on Sunday, 23 August.
One can tune in to BAM.org for live Vimeo Premium digital broadcasts of festival shorts throughout Animation Block Party weekend. The dedicated programme consists of a collection of shorts from the East Coast; a programme of shorts for children; an experimental, graphic design and music video collection; an indie animator showcase; a Saturday night party with Cartoons on Film live from Tommy Stathes in Brooklyn, as well as several collections of international shorts and student projects.
Considered one of the most refreshing and fun animation events in the U.S., Animation Block Party is the brainchild of Casey Safron, who founded the event in 2004.
