The current committee leaves TASI in a healthy state with adequate funds for future activities, a large member base and has initiated on its commitment to spread our activities beyond Mumbai by starting our Bangalore chapter”
The current TASI managing committee includes Anil Chopra (Treasurer), Ram Mohan (President), Ranjit Tony Singh (Secretary), Rajesh Turakhia (Joint Secretary), Yogi Chopra, Mohenish Gupta, Sanjiv Waeerkar and Vaibhav Kumaresh.
As a matter of policy 3 members from the current committee shall retire by rotation. For the current year theses include Mohenish, Anil and Sanjiv.
In the past one month TASI Members have selected their nominees and the final nominee list from which the new Managing Committee will be formed includes Geetanjali Rao, Vaibhav Kumaresh, Jai Natarajan, Yogi Chopra, Rajesh Turakhia, Shilpa Ranade, Sekhar Mukherjee and Ranjit ‘Tony’ Singh.
Elaborating on the process for electing the new committee and candidates, Tony explained, “It is a simple and transparent process. The general body suggests nominees which are screened by the current committee and these nominees are then elected by vote and ratified by the general body. The idea being that the best candidates who can serve the society and meet its objectives are elected. After committee is formed, the office bearers are decided”. For the current year I am also proposing one seat be given to a representative from the Bangalore chapter but this suggestion needs a nod from the General Body which I am confident of obtaining on the 23rd” he added.
“I am looking forward to contributions from nominated members such as Sekhar, Jai, Shilpa and Geetanjali and we are eagerly looking at their inclusion in the committee for the coming year. I’m sure that their passion and dedication to this medium will be an invaluable asset to this society” he added.
TASI’s Vaibhav Kumaresh shared, “As a group it takes a lot of effort to share with the industry. At least artists, professionals, students, enthusiasts all should come and participate at the sessions, There is no age bar even youngsters are invited”
“We are getting more organized and are attempting bigger things, so that participants who attend can have better experience which they have not had earlier. The intention is to take more people who would be pro actively involved in the Managing Committee. Even amongst ourselves we are planning to raise the activity bar. Obviously those who are happy doing this have volunteered for the committee” he added.
“All TASI members whether regular at the monthly events or not, should attend the AGM at least because it is going to be a summary of the year gone by and an opportunity to discuss the future plan of action also” concluded Vaibhav.
