‘Summer Time Rendering’ second cour trailer gives a glimpse into challenges faced by Shinpei

A promotional video, key artwork, and cast members for the second part of the anime adaptation of Yasuki Tanaka’s suspense novel Summer Time Rendering were revealed on the show’s official website. The second opening theme song for the anime, Natsuyume Noisy (A Noisy Summer Dream) by Asaka, is showcased in the video. On Thursday, 7 July, the second half of the anime will be released.

Shinpei is seen in the new key visual, holding a gun, with Ushio and the goddess Haine on the upper right and lower left corners of the image respectively, resembling the Yin and Yang symbols. They all seem to be sporting one of Haine’s red eyes.

The trailer opens with Shinpei expressing his determination to survive against all challenges even death, and save everyone on the island. Then, as though on a videotape, we are given a summary of each of Shinpei’s time leaps, which were invariably brought on by his demise. Up until the fifth and last lap, the several laps present a summary of what has happened in the show thus far. The remaining teaser shows the difficult challenges Shinpei and his friends will encounter to survive this supernatural adventure.

Publisher Shueisha describes the series as Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface, something strange is brewing on the island. What mysteries await him on this secluded summer island?

The voice cast includes Natsuki Hanae as Shinpei, Anna Nagase as Ushio Kofune, Saho Shirasu as Mio, Yūko Sanpei as both Hizuru and Ryūnosuke, and Kensho Ono as Sō Hishigata.

On 14 April, the animation made its debut on Tokyo MX and BS11 networks. The new anime will only be available globally through The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service Disney+, including in Japan. After the broadcast, TVer will also stream the show in Japan. The entire manga will be covered in the 25 episodes of the show.
