Audiences were given a brief but breathtaking glimpse into Indian Spider-Man’s reality in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Mumbattan through a cover art, which is a combination of Manhattan and Mumbai.
The image, which featured on the cover of British magazine Empire, shows Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy standing atop a building and gazing at the brightly coloured Mumbattan. A third wall-crawler can be seen swinging onto the building. Fans had previously seen Pavitr Prabhakar, alias Spider-Man India, in a piece of concept art, and later learned that Deadpool and Deadpool 2 actor Karan Soni had been chosen to voice Spider-Man India.
Across the Spider-Verse‘s co-writer Christopher Miller confirmed that apart from Spider-Man India, the poster also includes other variants of Spider-Man. With regard to the animation design and the new dimensions, the upcoming film will go all out. Miller said that the audience will experience something new in the animated feature because Morales will be leaving his dimension and travelling to others, as opposed to how it was in the prequel, where the others came to his dimension.
One of the animation’s directors, Joaquim Dos Santos, defined the dimensions’ animation style as robust while discussing the new dimensions that will be explored. “We’ve essentially made five films in one,” he added. These dimensions will include Earth-65, Mumbattan, New London, Nueva York and a fifth place the team is currently keeping under wraps. In the movie one can also expect Spider-Man Manga, Amazing Bag-Man, Spider-Woman, and Spider-Man Unlimited from Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse to make an appearance.
The animated film is directed by Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson. Miller now collaborates with Phil Lord as writer and producer. The first part of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will be released in theatres on 2 June, while the second part will follow on 24 March 2024.
