Association of Bangalore Animation Industry (ABAI) and Reed Midem — which runs the world’s most successful markets, conferences and exhibitions and events in Cannes, France — have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the Karnataka Animation, VFX, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) industry.
The MoU was signed by Reed Midem India representative for MipCom and MipTV and founder of the Indiantelevision.com group Anil Wanvari and ABAI President Biren Ghose in the presence of Karnataka Labour Minister BN Bache Gowda and the Department of IT, BT, S&T Principal Secretary M N Vidyashankar.
Vidyashankar has been the driving force behind the Karnataka Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics policy which was announced recently. The Karnataka government had announced the landmark policy in Bangalore at a function put together by ABAI.
The terms of the MoU cover several aspects relating to promoting the Karnataka AVGC industry at platforms such as MipTV, MipCom, MipCom Junior, MipDoc, MipFormats and MipCube in Cannes.
MipTV, which takes place in March-April every year, attracts close to 13,000 professionals from the audiovisual content, distribution and technology spaces. MipCom takes place in October every year.
About the MoU Anil Wanvari said, “The Karnataka government has taken some proactive steps to encourage Animation, Visual FX, Gaming sector in the state. ABAI too has several plans for its members and those involved in this sector. On the global marketing, distribution and sales fronts for content, Reed Midem provides the world’s best platforms. We believe that Reed Midem along with ABAI and the Karnataka government can build a winning proposition for AVGC professionals, creators and entrepreneurs from the state.”
