HBO has decided to end the adult comedy series Close Enough after three seasons, so there won’t be a fourth one. This decision of discontinuation comes three months after J. G. Quintel’s third season of the comedy series was released.
According to a statement made by the streaming service HBO, the adult animated series produced by Quintel and Cartoon Network Studios has been cancelled. The statement reads: “After three great seasons, Close Enough is coming to an end. We are so proud of the series and grateful to creator JG Quintel and our partners at Cartoon Network Studios, who made this show an instant fan favourite on HBO Max,” Quintel confirmed the same.
Originally intended for TBS in 2017, Close Enough was moved to HBO Max after issues with the animation department. Following the release of its first season in July 2020, Close Enough’s second season was released in February 2021, and it has since amassed a sizable fan base. The complexity of managing the transition from one age bracket to another is the main theme of the show. Close Enough explores the tale of friendship, parenthood, and making the right choices while following the lives of couple Josh and Emily along with their friends and family.
The cast of Close Enough includes Quintel as Josh Singleton, Gabrielle Walsh as Emily Ramirez-Singleton, Jessica DiCicco as Candice Ramirez-Singleton, Jason Mantzoukas as Alex Dorpenberger, Kimiko Glenn as Bridgette Yoshida, Danielle Brooks as Pearle Watson and James Adomian as Randy Watson.
Quintel is famous for his Regular Show, which ran for eight seasons on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2017. Currently, all three seasons of Close Enough are available on HBO Max.
