Maragathavalli Inbamuthiah, a serial entrepreneur and a global technology executive has taken over as the new CEO of Puppetica Media, the creators of Punyakoti, the first Sanskrit Animated Feature Film.
Speaking exclusively to Animation Xpress, Maggie (as she is called by her friends and colleagues) revealed that her decision to take over the reins of the fledgeling animation startup was the vision and potential behind it. She stated, “My focus will be on executing the business of taking unique Indian content to a global audience. We are at the cusp of a big shift in the way content is getting consumed. In my evaluation, Puppetica Media has the right ingredients to get to the top. Punyakoti, Puppetica’s first production, was an experiment. It is ahead of its time in terms of its treatment, and production when compared to other Indian products in a similar league. It is a disruptor.
The ANN Awards from Animation Xpress were a validation of that. Like many things Indian, Puppetica has mastered the art of doing more with less with Punyakoti which usually takes many years. The learning from making the animated film should not be lost. The intrinsic potential of such a product and method is enormous. It needs attention to harness it to its fullest extent. This is what I will bring to the table.”
Right after taking the mantle, she has already started initiating conversations to take a new version of Punyakoti global. She added, “We have to find ways to reach every child to watch the Sanskrit animated film and internalise the values of sustainability and integrity. The world needs it more than ever now. We are looking for partners who can join us in the journey. We have some interesting developments that we will reveal in due course.”
Inbamuthiah was the co-founder of two startups earlier and has extensive experience in managing businesses for over 20+ years. Commenting on her appointment, Punyakoti director Ravishankar said, “Maggie is business savvy and a respected tech entrepreneur. She is committed to making a difference to our future. I am happy that she identified the opportunity and is associated with Puppetica Media. I wish her all the best.”
