With over 11 years in the industry, Paperboat Design Studios, which has been servicing national and international clients, producing own animation content, TV episodic series, films and IPs, is now ready to foray into the EdTech sector. Through its initiative ‘UtSide’, the studio has taken up the responsibility of providing skilled manpower to the entire industry. In collaboration with the best brains of the industry, UtSide has come up with a customised online learning platform that offers specialised courses for students and working professionals to upgrade their skills.
“The team at Paperboat has been passionate creators and learners of the craft. Their own need for professional and specialised artists along with the demand of the AVGC industry led them to take up this initiative. The demand of Specialists is huge and can only be trained by seasoned professionals, hence the need for specialised programs designed and delivered online by working professionals in Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming,” UtSide Private Limited co-founder and managing director, Puneet Sharma told Animation Xpress while speaking about the launch of their platform.
Asked if the students coming from training institutes are industry-ready or not, Sharma said, “The students coming out of training institutes are skilled for departments such as modeling, texturing, roto & paint. But the skill level for specialised departments such as creature FX, FX, look development need expert training by working professionals along with innovative training and feedback mechanism used in studios.”
UtSide is bringing a one year specialisation course designed and delivered by industry experts on the customised learning platform for AVGC training. Their Online learning Campus gives students the access to course curriculum content, schedule of live classes, asset library and resources for assignments, video feedback, recorded live and so on.
Each batch will have 10 students assigned to a single mentor. The specialisation programs will be conducted by industry experts and international experts will hold ‘Friday Masterclasses’.
At the completion of the program, the student create an impressive Production-relevant Show-reel which helps find their desired job at renowned studios in India and abroad.
HR Staff of different studios will be given access to Online Learning Platform to post their requirements, search and shortlist candidates. Students will be able to submit their resumes and show-reel through their login access. Video testimonials of students and their mentors will be available for viewing. HRs can shortlist, scrutinize the show reels and conduct online interviews online.
The Edtech platform will have regular campus activities like contests, weekly webinars, online one-on-one with experts and 360-degree VR videos of the workshops will be a crucial part of engagement with the students.
With upskill courses in animation, visual effects and gaming, UtSide’s online delivery platform is designed keeping in mind their motto, a combination of four I’s: Imagination, Interactive, Immersive, and Intelligence.
