Netflix announced that its upcoming animated series Sonic Prime, featuring Sega’s well-known blue hedgehog, will debut on 15 December. Sonic will have to deal with some significant multiverse shenanigans, according to some new plotline details revealed by the streaming service.
After a battle between Sonic and evil Dr. Eggman causes reality itself to break, the hedgehog will travel around the shatterverse in the new animated series starring the SEGA hero. In order to mend the universe and save his companions, Sonic will have to embark on an epic journey across several dimensions, during which he will encounter new enemies and make new new friends. The CG animated series will have eight episodes in its first season, seven of which will be 20 minutes long and one will be a special 40-minute episode.
The official synopsis of the series reads: It’s the Sonic you know and love until an incredible twist thrusts Sonic into a new adventure featuring a reinvented cast and Sonic like you’ve never seen him before, where the fate of the multiverse rests in his gloved hands.
The recently launched new trailer of the series was followed by a number of fresh character posters and an announcement that Sonic the Hedgehog series would be coming to streamers much sooner than fans had anticipated.
The voice cast of the series includes Deven Mack as Sonic, Ashleigh Ball as Tails, Brian Drummond Eggman, Shannon-Chan Kent as Amy Rose, Adam Nurada as Knuckles and Ian Hanlin as Shadow as well as Big the Cat.
