An anime adaptation of Namco’s well-known fighting game series, Tekken: Bloodline, will debut on 18 August on Netflix. A new trailer continues where the first teaser left off, introducing the main character Jin Kazama as he trains with his ruthless grandfather Heihachi Mishima and participates in the King of Iron Fist tournament in an effort to exact vengeance on the mighty Ogre who killed his mother Jun Kazama.
In addition to Paul, King, and Kazuya, who have already been seen, the trailer also introduces us to a few new Iron Fist entrants: Julia Chang, Leroy Smith, Ling Xiaoyu, Jin’s rival Hwoarang and assassin Nina Williams.
The events of Tekken 3, which according to the game’s chronology, occur 20 years after Tekken 2 are depicted in Tekken: Bloodline. Producer of the Tekken series Katsuhiro Harada has stated that the games feature the longest-running plot in the history of the video game medium. There is a lot here that Netflix can use.
The trailer does provide the best glimpse at the full anime series debut of Tekken, but there are still a lot of questions regarding the production team, cast, and other aspects of the show that are unanswered.
