A new original sci-fi anime titled Moonrise is coming to Netflix with some big names at the helm of the project.
The official Twitter account for Netflix posted a teaser trailer for Moonrise along with information about the crew during the Tudum event. The writing work for Moonrise will be handled by Tou Ubukata who was a screenwriter for Psycho Pass two and three. The original character design will be done by Fullmetal Alchemist manga’s artist Hiromu Arakawa. The character design will also be done by Ayumi Yamada in addition to Ubukata and Arakawa. Produced by Wit Studio, the anime will be directed by Masashi Koizuka who has previously worked on seasons two and three of Attack on Titan and Durarara!!.
Ubukata wrote and published a prologue novel to Moonrise in December 2018. The official description of Moonrise by Netflix reads: A fateful story of the resistance forces on the moon who challenges the peaceful inhabitants of Earth to battle.
The action-packed visuals in the trailer are accompanied by Kawasaki’s soundtrack as the two major protagonists, Jack and Al, are introduced.
Sometime in 2024, Netflix will begin streaming Moonrise.
