Netflix releases trailer for stop-motion film ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio’

The trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, the Oscar-winning director’s critically acclaimed take on the Carlo Collodi classic, is ready to stream. The stop-motion film will premiere on Netflix on 9 December.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and claymation maestro Mark Gustafson, from a script by del Toro and Over the Garden Wall creator Patrick McHale, this new take on the tale sets the puppet’s awakening presents a whimsical tour de force that finds Pinocchio on an enchanted adventure that transcends worlds and reveals the life-giving power of love.

The film features the voices of Gregory Mann (Pinocchio), Ewan McGregor (Sebastian J. Cricket), David Bradley (Geppetto), Tilda Swinton (Wood Sprite / Death), Christoph Waltz (Count Volpe), Finn Wolfhard (Candlewick), Cate Blanchett (Spazzatura), John Turturro (Dottore), Ron Perlman (Podesta), Tim Blake Nelson (Black Rabbits) and Burn Gorman (Priest).

Pinocchio is produced by del Toro, Lisa Henson (The Jim Henson Company), Gary Ungar, Alex Bulkley, and Corey Campodonico (ShadowMachine) and animated at ShadowMachine’s Portland, Oregon studio, executive produced by Jason Lust.

The key creatives also includes production designer Guy Davis, co-production designer Curt Enderle, art director Rob DeSue, animation supervisor Brian Hansen, director of photography Frank Passingham, puppet supervisor Georgina Hayns and composer Alexandre Desplat.
