SpongeBob SquarePants character Sandy Cheeks is getting a movie. The film is called Saving Bikini Bottom: A Sandy Cheeks Movie which will be out on Netflix in August.
The synopsis reads — When Bikini Bottom and all its denizens are suddenly scooped out of the ocean, Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants journey to Texas to save the town from a villainous plot.
Carolyn Lawrence and Tom Kenny reprise their roles as Sandy and SpongeBob from the original cartoon show, alongside a cast of returning as well as new voices for the Nickelodeon franchise, including Wanda Sykes (Sue Nahmee), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward Tentacles), Johnny Knoxville (Randy Cheeks), Craig Robinson (Pa Cheeks), Grey DeLisle (Granny Cheeks), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Phoebe), and Matty Cardarople (Kyle).
SpongeBob SquarePants is an animated cartoon series created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg that officially aired on Nickelodeon on 17 July 1999. The cartoon series follows the adventures of the titular character in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The series has had a run for fourteen seasons, three feature films namely – The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), Sponge Out of Water (2015), and Sponge on the Run (2020). Alongside two spin-off series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years and The Patrick Star Show, premiered in 2021.
