Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) – One of the leaders in 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) training successfully concluded the 12th edition of National Student’s Meet(NSM)2014, a one of its kind initiative to congregate the students across its 80 centers in the country. The event was held from January 20 to January 23, 2014 at Leonia Holistic Resorts, one of the largest and most popular properties in Hyderabad.
NSM is one of the most eagerly awaited events and is conducted twice a year for MAAC students to interact with Industry Experts and their fellow counter-parts. It is aimed towards creating a platform for MAAC’s budding animators & VFX artists to get updated about the latest Industry happenings and trends in the Animation & VFX industry. The event comprised of interactive live sessions & workshops in Hyderabad which were conducted by the most experienced and successful professionals. The students worked on live projects, visited animation studios and enjoy a trip to Ramoji Film City.
More than 150 students apart from the faculty, staff and team of MAAC attended this four-day fun-cum-learning event. NSM 2014 saw interactive sessions on ‘VFX Technical & Showcase’, ‘Making of Chatur Chetan’, ‘TVC Film Making’, ‘Animation’, and ‘VFX in Feature Films’ by eminent personalities such as Madhusudhanan, National Award winning VFX Supervisor, Kaizar Mandal & Team, Creative Director, Dreams Pvt. Ltd.,Vaibhav More, Independent Film Maker & Founder, Vaibhav More Films, Suresh EC, Director-Animations, Aisthis Media Creations and Viral Thakkar, Computer Graphics Head (Films), Pixion respectively. In the event spanning four days, informative workshops on Theatre and Photography were conducted by Suruchi Aulakh, Theatre Artist and Acting Trainer Modeling Lead from Xentrix Studios and Ashok Kandimalla, a photography expert and other entertaining activities such as SPLASH, a pool party and Grand Gala Night were organized.
However, the ‘Showstopper’ of the event was the ‘Scene set up with Miniatures’Workshop conducted by the Research and Development team of MAAC. This workshop focused on the study of modelling, texturing, lighting and special effects which are the most important functions in the Animation and VFX production pipeline. Students were made to create a whole miniature model in just 3 hours with the help of the team and the output was phenomenal. The workshop was a major crowd puller this time at the National Students Meet 2014.
At the successful completion of the event, Ram Warrier, Business Head, MAAC says, “NSM 2014 was designed with an aim to increases the learning curve of the students by proactively involving them in various programmes and projects.
