After the trailer for the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home leaked on Sunday, Sony Pictures has released the first official teaser trailer of the third Spider-Man movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Featuring Tom Holland’s return for his third solo flick, the teaser returns fans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with everybody’s favorite wall-crawler. As clarified by Tom Holland earlier, we get to see only one Spider-Man in the trailer, but there endless possibilities of witnessing cameos of other Marvel Universe characters.
The teaser trailer picks up immediately after Spider-Man: Far From Home as Peter Parker (Tom Holland) tries to carry on in life with the world knowing his secret identity. The world where rather than being regarded as a hero, he appears to have become public’s enemy number one due to Mysterio accusing Parker of murdering him. This leads to the character’s arrival at the Sanctum Sanctorum, where he asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cast a spell that would make people forget who he was which opens the gates of the multiverse.
The concept of multiverse was earlier introduced in Loki. And because of this, we get glimpses of Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin towards the end of the video. The trailer is packed with stunning visuals, action sequences and everything a Marvel fan could ask for.
No Way Home is shaping up to be a massive movie for both Sony and Marvel Studios. In addition to Holland, Zendaya (MJ), and Jacob Batalon (Ned) reprising their roles, the movie includes a plethora of guests; right from Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus. Charlie Cox has even been rumored to reprise his role as Matt Murdock from Marvel’s Daredevil.
“There actually is a plan,” Sony Pictures president Sanford Panitch told Variety earlier this month. “I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed.”
“There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen,” he added.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will release on 17 December only in theaters. The film will be the fourth Marvel movie to debut in 2021 after a year of no releases from the superhero studio. It follows this summer’s Black Widow and Shang-Chi, as well as The Eternals, which is set to come out in November.
