Minions replace ‘The Office’ characters in a crossover promo video by Illumination and Peacock

American version of the popular sitcom The Office has collaborated with the Despicable Me spinoff, Minions: The Rise of Gru, after nine years of its conclusion to drop a minions version of promo for the fans.

In the crossover promo clip, the minions are seen taking over the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, replacing it with Dunnder Minion Evil Company, Inc. A dream crossover for fans which makes it interesting with a common star Steve Carell, who played the role of regional manager Michael Scott in The Office and has voiced as Gru in all Despicable movies.

The crossover video, which transforms the introduction of the well-known series into the realm of the minions, was posted on The Office’s social media accounts. Gru is seen acting as the manager and running meetings with the room full of yellow creatures in the iconic Scranton office. Fans will easily recognise the Easter Eggs from both projects in the amusing remake video.

The video has the same format as the opening credits of The Office, with minions replacing the original characters of the show. It makes an interesting watch as the animation is added to the original clip. The video starts with instantly recognisable music from the opening scene of The Office, and Gru’s logo is replacing the original one. While a number of minion employees come to the workplace, a minion is spotted spray-painting a banana on the Scranton sign. With the closeup shot of someone scanning documents, a person using a calculator, and some classic office gossip at the water cooler, the scenes that follow are almost exact replicas of the original introduction.

There are other fan-favourite scenes highlighted from the series like Kevin the minion dressed as Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) discovering his stapler in Jell-O, Stuart wearing a wig to look like Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), who is firing a grenade launcher; Bob takes up the character of Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) at the reception desk, Otto recreates the famous chilli spill scene of Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner), and finally, Gru is replacing Michael Scott in his cabin with his best boss trophy.

To commemorate the upcoming release of Minions: The Rise of Gru and The Office, extended superfan episodes that are exclusively available on Peacock, Illumination and Peacock created this fun video. Superfan episodes of The Office are super-sized episodes of the show that contain extended and deleted scenes that viewers have never seen before.
