Mike Moon launches adult animation label Moonlight at Illumination

Netflix, Sony and Disney veteran Mike Moon is launching his own adult animation label at Illumination Entertain. Moon will be the president of the new division titled Moonlight and he will be the creative advisor for the studio.

According to reports, Moon have worked on various top list animated projects such as Inside Job and Entergalactic. Moon will be based out of Illumination’s Santa Monica offices.

Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri said, “We have an exceptionally talented group of artists, filmmakers and producers at Illumination and believe that there is no better compliment to this team than Mike and the new company we are partnering to build. He has exceptional taste, deep experience and a strong vision for the films we intend to make together.”

Moon said, “I am thrilled to be joining the amazing team Illumination. Chris has created the benchmark for character, stories and innovation in animated films and I am honoured to be part of the future of this visionary studio.”

Moon, who has worked on a wide variety of acclaimed animated projects, such as The Midnight Gospel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Gravity Falls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends throughout his distinguished career.
