The latest version of popular 3D and animation software Maya, ‘Maya 6.0’, was launched amidst a lot of cheers and applause at the Nehru auditorium on thursday as part of the recently concluded CgA World 2004 expo.
Amongst the executives especially flown down from the Alias Singapore office were Alias Marketing manager for South Asia Pacific Lynn Lim, Alias Territory Manager ASEAN & SAARC Norman Tan and Alais Animation Specialist Amy Quek. Also present were Sundara Ramalingam from Hewlett Packard and Dhiren Shah of Rahul Commerce.
More than 400 students from Image Institute and Rahul Commerce had gathered for the launch.
Ramalingam first spoke on the advantages of having certified systems, saying “It becomes the joint responsibility of both the software and the hardware company to jointly solve any technical problems the client might have, addressing the large audience he added “If you purchase a certified system these and many other benefits can be availed of.” He also elaborated on the technical details of HP systems certified by Alias.
Amy then greeted the audience in Hindi with a suswagatam and breezed through a demonstration of the new features of Maya 6.0.
The new features of Maya 6 include motion retargeting wherein a motion path attributed to a certain character can be applied to another character with one click. Maya long hair,improvements on Maya cloth and Maya fur, enhanced compatibility with Adobe Photoshop are some of the other improved features of the new version.
