Keanu Reeves’ comic ‘BRZRKR’ to get anime spinoff series

Keanu Reeves has announced that Production I.G. will be producing his previously teased anime based on the comic BRZRKR. The announcement was made at the panel for BRZRKR at San Diego Comic-Con. It was also announced that the makers are planning for two seasons of the anime.

Netflix made an announcement in March 2021 that it had acquired the rights of the original comic book series from BOOM! Studios. The official synopsis of BRZRKR reads: BRZRKR is a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year fight through the ages. The man known only as “B” is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.

The story would first be adapted into a live-action film before an anime spinoff series. According to Netflix, by exploring many aspects of the plot, the anime series will expand the BRZRKR universe. Reeves will reprise his role and voice his character in the series.
