Considering the impact of the recent worldwide spread of coronavirus infections, Hiroshima Animation has decided to open a second application period. Hiroshima Animation Season 2022 (hereinafter referred to as the Festival) is now accepting applications for Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence (H-AIR) program, which invites three animation professionals from Japan and overseas to stay in Hiroshima City for six months from 1 May to 31 October 2022. During the residency, invitees will participate in cultural exchange activities with local residents and people involved in the arts and culture while working on their own projects. (Residency areas: Tsurumi-cho, Yokogawa, and Minaga)
H-AIR eligible projects
Unpublished new projects related to animation, as well as projects other than animation such as novels, comics, and films are eligible, as long as the projects are intended to be adapted as animation projects in the future. In addition, conducting research or study for the purpose of developing a project is also applicable.
Interaction activities with local residents
The program will include facilitating lectures and workshops for citizens, such as Machikado Animation Class (animation production project by citizens), as well as exchanges with residents of Hiroshima City and the areas where invitees stay, and people involved in art and culture.
The First Application period is from 7 to 31 January 2022 and the second application period is from 1 February 2022 – until the maximum number of invitees is reached.
The selection process for the first deadline will be carried out as scheduled, and the second application period will be screened on each application as it is received, and will be closed when the maximum number of invitees is reached.
The selection committee member includes Nobuaki Doi, Koji Yamamura, Shizuka Miyazaki. The new animation festival Hiroshima animation season will be launched in Hiroshima City this August.
